Overview:   Originally established by the land development company General Development Company, North Port has doubled in size in the last ten years and is popular with retirees.  It has a lot of planned neighborhoods and is close to the beach but not right on the sand.  Overall, a quiet town without a lot of nightlife or cultural amenities.

Crime Rate:  Meets National Average
